Circumcision Prevents Some STD

I found this interesting:
"Men who are circumcised are less likely to get sexually transmitted infectionssuch as genital herpes and human papillomavirus (HPV), but not syphilis.his finding—published in a March, 2009 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine—adds to the evidence that there are health benefits to circumcision, the surgical removal of the penis foreskin, usually performed on newborns shortly after birth. It was already known that circumcision can reduce the risk of penile cancer, a relatively rare disease, as well as the risk of HIV infection."

Despite news of this benefit, circumcision is declining especial in the united states.

In the United States, infant circumcision is declining. About 64% of American male infants were circumcised in 1995, down from more than 90% in the 1970s. Rates tend to be higher in whites (81%) than in blacks (65%) or Hispanics (54%).

"Some opponents say the removal of the foreskin is an unnecessary surgical procedure that may reduce sexual sensitivity in adulthood. In Jewish and Muslim cultures, young or infant boys are routinely circumcised for religious reasons. Circumcision rates have traditionally been higher in the U.S. than in Europe, but the American Academy of Pediatrics currently says that the medical benefits are insufficient to recommend circumcision for all baby boys."

wooden mirror

THIS IS SO COOL!
http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/80776600/

Its a "mirror" made out of wood. A bright spot light it aimed straight down from the ceiling in front of the mirror, and using light sensors, the different panels of wood move up or down, either being in the shadows or reflecting the light.
6-year-old Zachary Christie brought a combination utensil to school. This tool came from cub scouts, which he was excited to join recently. Heres what is so ridiculous about this: it was a combination of a fork, spoon, and knife, meant for camping. COMPLETELY HARMLESS!

"The first-grader faces 45 days in reform school after officials determined the camping utensil violated the Christina School District's ban on knives. His mother is home-schooling him while his family appeals the punishment.
"It just seems unfair," Zachary told The Times. Debbie Christie has started a Web site, helpzachary.com, to draw attention to her son's situation.
Some people say school officials should be able to exercise discretion in such cases, but others argue that zero-tolerance policies are necessary to prevent discrimination. Delaware lawmakers gave school officials more flexibility on weapons last year after a third-grader was kicked out of school for a year because her grandmother sent her to class with a birthday cake and a knife to cut it. But the change dealt only with expulsions, not suspensions like Zachary's.
"We didn't want our son becoming the poster child for this, but this is out of control," Debbie Christie told The Times.
The Christina school board president defended Zachary's suspension but said the rules may need to be changed for younger children."

Mustached Workers Earn More

Recent research found that men with mustaches earn 4.3 percent more than their mustacheless peers. They also earn 8.2 percent more than men with beards. These high-rollers spend more and save less though:
"People of Mustached American descent, however, also tended to spend 11 percent more and save 3 percent less than their collective counterparts.

"A down economy on top of the trappings of the more sexually adventurous Mustached American lifestyle – and things are beginning to catch up with us," said Dr. Abraham Jonas Froman, AMI's chief executive officer. "We just hope that our new partnership with Quicken, as well as the excitement of naming the 'Robert Goulet Mustached American of the Year' at 'Stache Bash 2009 featuring John Oates, will help provide a sound financial roadmap for our community."

Heres what these men with mustaches spend their extra income on:

"The study found that the majority of Mustached Americans' disposable income was spent on toiletries such as cologne, and teeth whitening solutions (10 percent); alcoholic beverages such as beer and Rich & Rare Canadian Whisky (11 percent); 1970s and '80s-era music memorabilia, most commonly by Hall & Oates (1 percent); clothing apparel consisting of Speedo swimsuits, leather pants, and tank-top tee-shirts; and DVD movies most commonly starring Billy Dee Williams, Chuck Norris, Richard Roundtree, and Burt Reynolds.

Bearded Americans, according to the study, spend the majority of their income on breakfast pastries (14 percent), beard combs (2 percent), lice removal kits (1 percent), overalls (12 percent), and semi-automatic weapons (18 percent)."

Sweet.

Two Resort-goers Die in Sauna

In Arizona, two patrons of a sweat lodge died during a two hour spiritual cleansing session, and more than a dozen became ill.

"In all, 21 of the 64 people crowded inside the sweat lodge on Friday evening received medical care at hospitals and a fire station. Four remained hospitalised yesterday evening one in critical condition and the others in fair condition.

Authorities haven't determined the cause of the deaths and illnesses; tests for carbon monoxide and other contaminants were negative. Yavapai County sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said authorities were checking into whether any of the attendees had medical conditions or were fasting.

Among those sickened were a middle-aged man and a woman who were unconscious, according to an emergency call, and a third person who was found not breathing.

"It's not something you'd normally see at one of the resorts there, and it's unfortunate regardless of the cause," D'Evelyn said"

The weird thing about this is that each participant paid almost $9000 for the "experience"...yikes

Lawsuitover Breastfeeding on Plane

A New Mexican woman is suing Delta Airlines because flight attendants kicked her off an international flight before takeoff, because she refused to "cover up" while breast-feeding her baby.

"A New Mexico woman kicked off an airplane at the Burlington International Airport three years ago for breast feeding her baby is suing Delta Air Lines.

The Burlington Free Press says negotiations failed to reach a settlement between the Atlanta-based airline and Emily Gillette.

On Wednesday Gillette filed suit in U.S. District Court in Burlington.

Gillette was ordered off a Delta Connections plane by a flight attendant after twice refusing an order to cover up while she breast fed her baby prior to takeoff.

Gillette's lawsuit says she felt "shame and embarrassed" after being ordered off the plane.

Delta refused to comment on the suit, but a spokesman says the airline supports a mother's right to breast-feed."
